Yesterday, Today and Forever
Hebrews 13:7 - 9
7 Remember those who led you, who spoke the Word of God to
you; and consider the result of their conduct, imitate their faith.
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, yes and
forever.
9 Do not be carried away by varied and strange teachings;
for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods,
through which those who were thus occupied were not benefited.
At the beginning of each
year people will make New Year’s resolutions.
They will attempt to make
changes to their lives that they hope will make them better people or bring
them some sort of success.
And just about always the
New Year’s resolution is centered on one’s self.
Big businesses even make
New Year’s resolutions which are usually to make the company more
successful.
And sometimes even
churches and ministries will make new resolutions whether it is the new year
or not to help jump start their ministries and attract new people or at
least not lose the one’s they have.
So many changes.
So many changes going on
all around us, the world is a constantly changing place.
And many people feel they
need to make changes in order to stay competitive in one form or another.
As Christians, as true
believers in Christ Jesus, how do, how should all these changes and desires
to change affect us and our walk with God?
As a true believer in
Jesus we should take confidence in knowing that even with all the continuous
pressure to change that Jesus Christ, Lord, Savior, God is the same
yesterday, today and forever.
He is a constant, a solid
rock upon which He makes our footsteps firm.
His Word, the Scriptures,
are as applicable and as full of power today as when they were first
inspired.
God’s Word does not
change to fit the times, culture or desires of man.
God is the same yesterday
today and forever.
The world in which we
live is constantly asking us to become more accepting, accommodating and
tolerant.
Asking us to compromise
God’s Word and our faith so that we won’t come across as being judgmental
and condemning.
The world desires to
change God to ease its sin saturated conscience.
As true believers in
Christ Jesus, guardians of our Lord’s Word and teachings, we must never
compromise the integrity of the Scriptures in order to build up the number
of people involved in our ministries.
We must never compromise
God’s Word by watering it down because of fear about how people will respond
or to make it more acceptable to the masses.
God is the same yesterday
today and forever and He ordained His Words with purpose and clarity
transcending time creating a rock of all ages.
Who are we to think our
way of doing things would be better?
If we trust and obey in
faith His promises there is never a need to change His Word.
